This area of competition requires each contestant to choose an issue about which she cares deeply for and is of relevance to our country. A platform can be an existing program or organization, or it can be a unique topic for which a contestant wishes to advocate.

Most importantly, a contestant should choose an issue she is passionate about, as it will be an important part of Miss Heart of the Midwest's year of service.

Contestants competing at any level in the Miss America system are required to raise a minimum of $100 to support the Children’s Miracle Network Fund.  This is NOT an entry fee, but rather a service requirement, by the Miss America Organization, to participate in a Miss America sponsored pageant.

These charitable donations are tax deductible and can be raised through business sponsors, family, friends, etc.  Please set up your Children's Miracle Network account online (2019 pageant year), and register as a contestant for Miss Heart of the Midwest.
